+# AssetManager update and public source package
+
+This public package intentionally does **not** contain:
+
+- `.env`
+- `data/config/config.json` or the runtime-specific `data/config/APPINFO.json`
+- PostgreSQL data
+- uploads, logs, backups, or deployed runtime scripts
+- local database files or old source-code backups
+
+Copying this package over an existing installation does not overwrite existing configuration, passwords, or user data.
+
+## Updating an existing installation
+
+1. Back up `.env` and the complete `data/` directory.
+2. Copy the contents of the new `assetmanager/` directory over the existing project directory.
+3. Run `docker compose down`.
+4. Run `docker compose up -d --build`.
+5. Run `docker compose logs --tail=100 -f`.
+
